Mini Conference: Aquatic Foods for Resilient Food Systems, Held in Bergen Norway

A researcher from the Fish for Health Project participated as a speaker at the Mini Conference: Aquatic Foods for Resilient Food Systems, held in Bergen, Norway, as part of the Global Action Network and the broader United Nations Decade of Action on Nutrition.

In addition to the presence of the Norwegian Royal Family and the Norwegian Minister of Fisheries, the event brought together global leaders, policymakers, scientists, and a wide range of stakeholders to discuss how aquatic foods can play a transformative role in strengthening food security, improving nutrition, and building more resilient and sustainable food systems. Topics ranged from access, safety, and nutritional value to the importance of inclusive strategies that leave no one behind. The discussions were both inspiring and highly relevant.

It was especially meaningful to contribute to a dialogue that connects ocean science, fisheries, and nutrition with real-world impact, bringing global policies closer to practical solutions. In this context, the Fish for Health Project was presented as a Brazilian initiative that brings all of these areas together.

“I leave this experience even more convinced that aquatic foods are not just part of the solution—they are central to the future of sustainable food systems.”Dr. Juliana Galvão
